July 10 - August 20, 2024
ACTion: Heart of Europe is an immersive 40-day expedition across the stunning landscapes of Czechia and Slovakia, which culminates in a festival of original devised work in the capital city of Bratislava.
Ancient Bohemian castles, charming Slovakian villages, and the enchanting vistas of the High Tatras Mountains beckon our intrepid traveling ACTion: Heart of Europe artists. Amidst theatre workshops, cultural encounters & lectures, community-led service work, creative explorations, and ongoing devising work, ACTion artists will engage with diverse communities across Czechia and Slovakia, including the vibrant Roma population of Eastern Slovakia. While working with partner communities to craft and perform plays that reflect their own experience, casts will also work with local collaborators to devise their own new piece of theatre, which will premiere in Bratislava, the cultural nucleus of Slovakia.
This remarkable journey invites you to immerse yourself in the Heart of Europe, where history, culture, and creativity converge to weave a tapestry of unforgettable experiences. Join us as we traverse Bohemian landscapes — forging connections, telling stories, and leaving a lasting impact!

Who can take part in an ACTion Expedition?
ACTion is open to theatre artists at all stages in their career -- from students to emerging artists to seasoned professionals. DAT is looking for talented actors who have a strong desire to explore devised theatre, engage with foreign cultures, and make a positive impact in the lives of youth.
