ACTion invites artists out of the rehearsal room and into the field — into the places, communities, and stories that shape the work. Through experiential travel, community collaboration, and ensemble-based creation, participants craft original short works born from the landscapes, relationships, and questions encountered along the way.
This is where you meet the world, shift your process, stand with community, sharpen your questions, and open new creative terrain.

ACTion: Ecuador is an immersive 40-day journey across diverse Ecuadorean terrains that culminates with performances of original devised work in Quito.
Misty Andean peaks, lush Amazonian rainforests, and the unique wildlife of the Galápagos Archipelago all await our traveling ACTion: Ecuador artists. Through theatre workshops, cultural lectures, community-led service work, and ongoing devising work, ACTion artists will exchange with a wide array of the Ecuadorian diaspora, including the Afro-Ecuadorian community of Esmeraldas and the indigenous Shuar tribe of the Amazon Jungle.
While working with partner communities to craft and perform plays that reflect their own experience, casts will also devise their own new piece of theatre, which will premiere in Quito, Ecuador’s bustling capital city.

Who can take part in an ACTion Expedition?
ACTion is open to theatre artists at all stages in their career -- from students to emerging artists to seasoned professionals. DAT is looking for talented actors who have a strong desire to explore devised theatre, engage with foreign cultures, and make a positive impact in the lives of youth.
