Miracles are Soft in the Jungle

A new play by DAT with Peter Petkovšek, Antonia LaChé, Karina Sindicich, Leslie Root, and Sam Super

ACTion Fest 2017: Juntos, Mano a Mano: Hand in Hand
Teatro Círculo, NYC

Estefanía, a young girl from an indigenous Shuar community in Ecuador's Amazon jungle, is called back home to be a leader after her grandfather is arrested for fighting an anti-constitutional mining operation that threatens to destroy the land of their ancestors. Struggling with this sudden return to her culture and traditions, Estefanía must face the demands of her grandmother, the passion of an activist lawyer, the influence of a corporate mining official, and even the spirit of the earth Nunqui. Each of these forces push her to make decisions that will impact the very survival of her tribe.
