Karina, a versatile actress and devoted teaching artist, is a dynamic force in the world of arts education.

With a rich background in acting, including a Bachelor of Honors in Acting from LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore, Karina's true passion lies in nurturing children's creativity through drama and arts. Her journey has taken her from serving as a clown and National Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation in Australia to becoming an integral part of numerous organizations in New York City, such as Zara Aina and The Actors Theater Workshop, where she empowers and inspires children through theatre and leadership programs. Beyond her inspiring work, Karina is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Applied Theatre at CUNY University. Her dedication extends globally, having taught drama to children in diverse communities across Tanzania, Ecuador, and Slovakia as part of Dramatic Adventure Theatre's transformative initiatives. Karina's unwavering commitment to arts education and her boundless enthusiasm make her a vital addition to the DAT team, ready for the exciting adventures ahead.

Karina’s Story

Karina, an Australian-born actress and dedicated teaching artist, has made her mark in the vibrant arts scene of New York City. She holds a Bachelor of Honors in Acting from LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore, and has honed her passion for children's arts education over 14 years. In Singapore, she assumed the role of Head of Curriculum Development and Lead Drama Teacher, responsible for students aged 3 to 10 at The Learning Connections, a non-profit agency. One of her cherished experiences was portraying Captain Starlight, a clown, and serving as the National Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation at Sydney Children's Hospital in Australia.

Since her relocation to NYC, Karina's contributions to the world of theatre education have been remarkable. She has collaborated with organizations like Zara Aina, conducting outreach programs across NYC, Alabama, and Madagascar, including teaching clowning in a juvenile prison. She has also worked with The Actors Theater Workshop as a Drama Mentor for The Builders of a New World program, imparting empowerment and leadership to homeless children in Harlem. Recently, she was chosen to be part of the ASTEP team, teaching dance and movement at The Shanti Bhavan school outside Bangalore, India. Notably, she serves as a Project Facilitator for the Alternative to Detention Program in NYC, known as CHOICES, in collaboration with CASES, aiding youths aged 8 to 15.

Karina's commitment to making a difference extends to her involvement with Magicians Without Borders, where she teaches math through magic at The Parkside School for children with learning disabilities in New York City, all while pursuing her Masters Degree in Applied Theatre at CUNY University. Her journey with Dramatic Adventure Theatre has seen her impart drama education to children in diverse communities across Tanzania, Ecuador, and Slovakia. Eager and thrilled to join the inspiring DAT team, Karina is poised for the adventures that lie ahead.
