From Feature Shoot:
Shot over a period of 18 months, Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti’s project Toy Stories compiles photos of children from around the world with their prized possesions—their toys. Galimberti explores the universality of being a kid amidst the diversity of the countless corners of the world; saying, “at their age, they are pretty all much the same; they just want to play.”
Kids are kids.
On the 40th anniversary of the famous ‘Blue Marble’ photograph taken of Earth from space, Planetary Collective presents a short film documenting astronauts’ life-changing stories of seeing the Earth from the outside – a perspective-altering experience often described as the Overview Effect.
Just amazing.
This is why one travels. This is why one makes art. Shift in perspective is always the destination.
A conversation with Tim Ferriss & Benny Lewis on efficient language learning techniques and more.
Michael Palin, of Monty Python fame, made a stop during his travels in the small village of Ždiar, Slovakia – which is also one of our final stops on ACTion: Heart of Europe.
In Ždiar, DAT's traveling artists will finalize their original plays and recharge after an intense period of teaching within the Roma community.
ACTion: Heart of Europe is now casting. Email casting@dramaticadventure.com for more information.
How to Learn A Language in 90 Days
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” ~ Nelson Mandela
Let's make shadow puppets!
Today and tomorrow (October 18th and 19th), from 12-2pm, Dramatic Adventure Theatre and our friends at Abingdon Theatre will be hosting a few tables at the Fashion District Arts Festival (Broadway & 39th).
We will be making Condor shadow puppets with kids and the young at heart! This should be a lot of fun for the kids as they will get to cut out, color, and watch their Condors fly!
This is also a great opportunity to learn about DAT’s Nov. 17th Pop Up Playhouse reading of ‘A Girl without Wings’ – an interspecies love story between an Andean Condor and a spunky young girl, a play which was developed on location in the Ecuadorian Andes.
'A Girl without Wings’ will be performed at the Abingdon Theatre as part of their Pop Up Playhouse series, for more information about the reading, visit dramaticadventure.com/tickets
PS - Abingdon Theatre will also have other children’s theatre performances happening today and tomorrow that should also be great fun for the young ones!
Sometimes it’s hard to help others understand the issues one has seen firsthand.
How do we improve our communication with one another?
Maybe we should add this video to our orientation for those Dramatic Adventure Theatre artists traveling to the Amazon jungle!
