Jason Williamson began working with Dramatic Adventure as a director for the 2009 ACTion: Ecuador project. Since then, he has become DAT’s resident playwright. His play, Prayer of the Condor, was commissioned by DAT and workshopped at the Kennedy Center’s 2010 Page to Stage Festival. In January, 2011, his play, American Scrapbook, was commissioned and produced by the Kennedy Center as part of their center-wide celebration of the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s inauguration. The piece was directed by Kathleen Amshoff, DAT’s resident director. Jason’s newest play, Lesser Mercies, received a lab production at Exit, Pursued by a Bear, a new theatre collective in Hell’s Kitchen, where he is also the resident playwright. Jason’s other work has been produced or developed at New York Theatre Workshop, the NY Public Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Stanford Summer Theatre, Drama League, and the NY Fringe Festival. He has been a finalist for both the O’Neill Conference and the Heideman Award, as well as a three-time finalist for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival. He won the North Carolina Theatre Conference New Play Award, and both the Dramatists Guild and the Shubert Foundation have granted Jason fellowships. He received his MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon. |
