In the beginning there was an idea. An idea formed from a desire to integrate innovative theatre with cross-cultural, experiential travel and community service. An idea which developed into a project. A project which developed into Dramatic Adventure Theatre (DAT). A company that believes the process is just as important as the "product", that the journey is just as important as the destination. A company intensely focused on the importance and power of human connection in all spheres of life.
In just four years, DAT has grown from a man with an idea to a company of 12 dedicated artists... with community partners all over the world. DAT has now sent over 100 artists to Africa and South America. In collaboration with our community partners, DAT has developed 14 original plays, which have been performed in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Rochester, and New York City. Addressing community needs as they arise, DAT has refurbished buidings, created a fully functional multi-media center in one community, cleaned up acres of trash, gathered & delivered donations (clothes, shoes, art supplies, musical instruments, electronics, etc.), and much more. The community impact has been incredibly positive for all involved. As news of DAT grows, so do the number of requests for community and artistic partnerships. The need for Dramatic Adventure Theatre is clearly evident. |
